How we got started

Camp Grommette came to be after our founder Julianne Hernandez decided that she wanted to give back to the community. She learned to surf and skate in a society where surfing and skating was frowned upon, she wanted to help break the gender roles and give way to a new generation of lady rippers.

Julianne Penelope Hernandez is a 17-year- old senior attending Edison High School. She has been surfing and skating for over 10 years and has been supported by Hurley, Inc. for around 3 years now. Before she began her career as a California State Parks Lifeguard, she was competing in both skating and surfing contests. She is striving to become the first girl ever to surf and skateboard in the US Open of Surfing. Juli has always been passionate about inspiring girls to start skateboarding and surfing. She has created CAMP GROMMETTE for her Senior C.I.B.A.C.S (Center for International Business and Communication Studies) and she hopes you will join her in become a part of the revolution in women's sports.
